HEY! I’M JESS.

Hello there! I’m just a regular, yarn-loving girl trying to live my best life despite my diagnosis. Sometimes I get just like you: flying quickly from downcast to frightened, from depressed to frazzled, and from despondent to frantic.

And as crazy as this may sound to some people, yarn helped save my life. Yup, you read that right, yarn! I learned so many valuable life skills that helped me to stay steady all while clicking my needles.

While I am not a professional therapist, doctor, or anything like that, I have been through what you’re going through. I get you!

And you know what? I believe it can get better for you because it’s happened to me. While I still have my rough patches, I’m seeing frequent improvement and I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you! With a little practice and some fluffy yarn, I believe that everyone can make their situation more stable, orderly, and enriched.

I’m so excited that you’re here! Let’s get started!

REPLACEMENT FOR MEDS

While yarn is pretty magical, please, please, PLEASE take your medication seriously! That means talking to your doctor before changing your dose, taking your pills as prescribed (no skipping!), and following additional orders to the letter (for most of us, that means no alcohol, getting regular sleep, and taking your pills at the same time everyday).

REPLACEMENT FOR THERAPY

It’s true: yarn can have a therapeutic effect. But that does NOT mean that yarn IS therapy! For people that are currently unable to get therapy, click here for some resources for holding on until you can find the right therapist for you. I truly believe that the information on this site can help you improve your situation but a trained therapist is still pretty dang important!

A CURE OR MAGIC BULLET

Listen, I know that is hard to read. I know how desperately you want all of this to be over so you can get on with your life already! As much as I wish it did, life just doesn’t work that way but that doesn’t mean that you need to let it subdue you. Knitting and steady progress can help you; just don’t expect it to get you all the way there overnight.

IF YOU ARE:

  • Ready to change
  • A yarn lover
  • A curious and adventurous knitter
  • More than your diagnosis

AND YOU WANT:

  • To feel more stable
  • To knit more
  • To knit better
  • To improve in all things

Then you’re in the right place!
